Nonlinear Pedagogy, NLP, is the idea that people don't learn things in a linear manner, that different people learn things differently and that each thing learnt will both impact on and be impacted by the things learnt previously and later. These impacts will not be proportional, nor predictable, nor consistent between learners. In short people are messy and so is learning.

NLP can explain performance plateau's, late developers, light bulb moments, loss of form and all the various frustrations of coaches who conceptualise their players as being walls of skill built one brick at time, reaching ever higher and imposing their might upon all who view them.

The 7SC attempts to utilise this pedagogy by allowing every player to follow their own path, at their own speed and to have their own conversation with the coach about how they can apply their skills. It is not easy, quick or even pretty to watch. It is however a extremely exciting process to be involved with and one that is giving me far more satisfaction than some other methods of teaching. I also find that the players are just more involved, interested and focused in everything.
